Senior Project Manager (Contaminated Site Management)

Johannesburg North

The position for a Senior Project Manager is available for a company based in Johannesburg Northern Suburbs.

Candidates must have experience in undertaking and managing contaminated land Investigations. We are seeking candidates who have experience in the design, installation, and management of in- situ remediation systems. Technologies of interest are: Vapour Extraction, Dual / Multi phase extraction, in-situ aerobic and anaerobic degradation, and in-situ chemox.

Project management skills are also fundamental including implementing a strong safety culture, proposal writing, client liaison, budget tracking, project scheduling and tracking, team management and quality control of deliverables.

Personal attributes that the candidate should possess is someone that is enthusiastic and willing to meet new clients and sell the capability of the group. Therefore, it is important that the candidate has experience in successful business development. Strong organisational, communication and computer literacy skills are required.

The role will involve working with Multi-National and International Industrial Organisations in the oil and gas, chemical / fine chemical and manufacturing sectors. Candidates with a track record of building client relationships in one or more of these sectors would be an added advantage.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel throughout Southern Africa, East Africa and eventually Western Africa.

Qualifications:

BSc/BEng Honours degree in Hydrogeology/Geology/Environmental or related Engineering An MSc/PHD Degree in Hydrogeology/Geology/relevant Engineering will be an advantage

Experience:

5 – 10 years’ experience in site assessment, risk assessment and remediation of contaminated sites. Experience in remediation of hydrocarbon impact, chlorinated hydrocarbons and other organic volatile and semi volatile compounds will be an added advantage. Candidates that have published articles, opinion pieces or presented at local and international conferences will be an added advantage.

Support Engineer (Environmental Science)

Johannesburg North

Support Engineer position is available within the oil and gas, renewables and water sectors.

The successful candidate would be responsible for sampling, data collection and basic interpretation of soil, groundwater, vapour data including form in-situ remediation systems.  Perform routine fields tasks related to projects, including monitoring of drilling and excavation activities, field work preparation and planning, basic geological analysis to inform and refine conceptual site model, data review and presentation as well as report preparation.

Qualifications

  • Bsc / BEng Honours Degree in Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • Evidence of Development Plan with commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

Knowledge

  • Environmental Legislation
  • Knowledge of soil, groundwater and vapour sampling, data interpretation and conceptual models.

Experience

  • 1 – 2 years relevant post-graduation work experience

Languages desirable: Zulu or Xhosa or Sotho
